Aurora Fernandez
Literary Agent

Aurora Fernandez is a literary agent at Trident Media Group. She joined the agency in 2021 as an assistant to Robert Gottlieb. Before joining Trident, Aurora was an intern at Simone Garzella International Book Scouting and attended the Columbia Publishing Course. She earned a B.A. in Anthropology with a concentration in Political Science from Wellesley College and spent a year studying at St. Peter’s College, Oxford University.

Aurora is open to submissions and excited to work with authors. Aurora is looking for commercial and upmarket fiction, particularly narratives with a romantic or fantastical thread. She loves all things romance from the smart and sexy romcoms of Ali Hazelwood to romantasy à la Rachel Gillig. At this time, she is especially interested in urban fantasy similar to HALF CITY by Kate Golden, dark fantasy like NINTH HOUSE by Leigh Bardugo, and SFF rom-coms such as FORMULA ZERO by Meredith Lanzen and ASSISTANT TO THE VILLIAN by Hannah Nicole Maehrer. Some favorite tropes of hers are forced proximity, rivals-to-lovers, and yearning love interests and she’d love to see works by writers who cut their teeth in fanfiction.

For upmarket and book club fiction, she is especially drawn to narratives with interesting female dynamics, moral dilemmas with no clearcut answer, and, of course, a unique hook backed by great writing. She would love to see works similar to Megan Abbott, Curtis Sittenfeld, and Taylor Jenkins Reid. She is also interested in select thrillers in the vein of Megan Miranda and accessible horror similar to GIRL DINNER by Olivie Blake. And anything involving contemporary retellings of myths or classics will definitely catch her eye!

While Aurora’s interests mainly lie in fiction, she is open to nonfiction submissions. For nonfiction submissions, Aurora is looking for select narrative nonfictions, journalistic reporting backed by meticulous research, and essay collections. Particular topics that interest her are pop culture, women’s issues, unique moments of history, and respectful true crime like WE KEEP THE DEAD CLOSE by Becky Cooper.
