Kimberly Whalen came to Trident Media Group from the Jane Rotrosen Agency, where she served as the Rights Director and was responsible for foreign, film, audio, and serial rights for all their clients. In addition, she was a domestic literary agent and represented both fiction and non-fiction.
Before joining the Rotrosen Agency, Kimberly was at St. Martin’s Press, where she gained her greatest experience and stellar reputation. She came to St. Martin’s as a foreign rights assistant from Jutta Klein Associates, and in less than seven years was Director of Foreign Rights.
Because of her extensive knowledge and keen sense, Kimberly was also appointed to the St. Martin’s Editorial Board, a position that required her to assess the domestic and international viability of potential book projects.
Kimberly was Trident's Managing Director of Foreign Rights for five years, during which time she sold foreign rights for all of Trident’s major authors while also representing her own domestic clients. A regular attendee of the London and Frankfurt Book Fairs, Kimberly further developed strong business relationships with many international publishers through face-to-face visits in their home countries. She has negotiated deals across the globe, in places all over Eastern and Western Europe, including the UK, Germany, and Scandinavia; and Asia, including China, Taiwan, Japan, and Korea.
As of April 2006, Kimberly has been promoted to a full-time Domestic Agent. Her interests are diverse and include commercial fiction and commercial nonfiction, women's fiction, suspense, paranormal and pop culture. Her clients include New York Times best selling authors Cherry Adair, Allison Brennan, Kat Martin, Mary Alice Monroe, Brenda Novak, and Carly Phillips. Her other best selling clients include Jeff Anderson, Stephanie Bond, Patti Callahan Henry, Julie Kenner, and Roxanne St. Claire.
