Dan Harvey was born and raised in Danville, Virginia and received degrees from The College of William and Mary. His publishing career began in the marketing department of Princeton University Press where he developed an appreciation for serious nonfiction books, expertly edited, beautifully produced and carefully marketed. He entered commercial publishing in New York as Publicity Director of Harper & Row (now HarperCollins) where he worked with a range of authors including Theodore White, Susan Isaacs, Tom Peters, and President Gerald Ford and Betty Ford. He subsequently moved to G.P. Putnam’s Sons where he supervised the marketing for many of America’s most commercial writers. As Senior Vice President, Publishing Director of the Putnam Publishing Group, Dan orchestrated book campaigns for such #1 writers as Lance Armstrong, A. Scott Berg, Tom Clancy, Patricia Cornwell, Catherine Coulter, Clive Cussler, Sue Grafton, Nora Roberts, John Sandford and Amy Tan. |
