AUTHOR MARKETING

Veteran book publisher Dan Harvey joined Trident in January 2007 to fill the newly created position of Director of Marketing for the agency group.

Trident Chairman Robert Gottlieb said the changing publishing environment in which publishers have fewer resources to promote all their titles prompted Trident to add a marketing position.

"By bringing Dan Harvey on board we have someone who will add another dimension to our business, authors' careers and create opportunity for our clients."

“In our continuing efforts to evolve the role of literary representation and management of authors, we at Trident are fortunate to have Dan Harvey join us as Director of Marketing for the firm. His role will be varied yet highly focused on our clients’ careers and our agents at Trident in an ever challenging publishing environment and marketplace.” Robert Gottlieb, Chairman of Trident Media Group

“Dan worked on many high-end celebrity book projects at Putnam, and I found his knowledge, insight and creativity a pleasure to work with. I look forward to his arrival.” Dan Strone, CEO of Trident Media Group
Harvey, started January 2, 2007, had most recently been senior V.P. and publishing director of the Putnam Publishing Group. Harvey has created campaigns for some of the leading commercial authors in America, including Tom Clancy, Patricia Cornwell, Catherine Coulter and Nora Roberts. His marketing direction for number-one best selling books by Lance Armstrong, A. Scott Berg, Clive Cussler, Sue Grafton, Spencer Johnson , John Sandford and Amy Tan, among many, created a standard of effective support for booksellers at all levels backed by imaginative consumer campaigns.
"It's important for agencies to keep up with the changes in the industry," said Gottlieb, "and Dan's appointment gives us the ability to give our authors the best chance to succeed in a very competitive market place."

FILM & TELEVISION

We have created for our clients a range of substantial relationships with major Hollywood agencies in connection with the selling of dramatic rights. Mr. Gottlieb and Mr. Strone have substantial relationships with these agencies developed over the years and we spend a good deal of time in Hollywood on behalf of all of Tridents' clients.

FOREIGN RIGHTS DEPARTMENT

Trident's business philosophy is to build businesses for our clients. Publishing is a global business. That is why we make every effort to retain foreign rights for our clients. We sell directly in all the major foreign rights markets attending both the Frankfurt Book Fair and the London Book Fair. We meet with all the major international publishers in New York on a regular basis. We believe direct one to one contact with buyers in the major International markets is essential. Each publisher in each country is a distinct business opportunity for an author.
Four agents including Robert Gottlieb attend both the London Book Fair and the Frankfurt Book Fair. In 2006 Trident's Foreign Rights Department negotiated over 400 agreements for our clients in market around the world.
